The Outdoor Dad Blog

I grew up in the Pennine hills of West Yorkshire and love everything about being outdoors. Hillwalking, mountaineering, cycling, climbing, skiing, canoeing, walking the dog, playing football, chopping logs in my garden – as long as I’m outside I’m happy.

I’ve travelled all over the world looking for outdoor adventure, but I’m just as happy in the English countryside as I am in the high mountains of Europe and America.

In 2016 I became a dad for the first time, and I want my little boy Sonny to have a childhood filled with adventure and excitement, just like I did. I want to ride bikes with him, walk up mountains with him, sleep in tents with him, watch sunsets with him, swim in the sea with him, and climb trees with him – and there’s so much to see in the big wide world that I want him to get started early. I started my blog www.theoutdoordad.co.uk to keep a record of our adventures as a family, and hope we’ll have many great memories to look back in years to come.
