Friends of the Peak District safeguards the landscapes of Britain’s first and most beautiful national park.

We are delighted to be involved with Julia Bradbury and The Outdoor Guide. We are very much looking forward to welcoming Julia and the film crew back into the area to film for her latest walking series.

We challenge and campaign against developments that threaten the Peak District’s beauty and tranquillity. We want thriving rural communities. We support homes for local people, sustainable jobs and local services. Climate change is the biggest threat to our countryside. We champion suitable renewable energy, environmental building design and green transport schemes in the national park.

“This beautiful area is so close to my heart as I started walking here with my dad as a youngster. I was truely honored to be asked many years ago to be the President of The Friends of the Peak District and it will be with a heavy heart that I hand over the reins to my successor.”

Staffordshire County Council has put in place an emergency restriction order preventing anyone from using Limer and Swan Rakes at Hollinsclough. These idyllic lanes were once a packhorse route for the trade of salt but are now reduced to a rock scramble where horse riders, cyclists and walkers are unable to pass.

We're urging SCC to continue to protect both Rakes by making a temporary traffic regulation order which will give them time to prepare an order to permanently ban all motorised vehicles from these historic lanes.
