For the third year, the Awards are being held in association with VisitBritain and the GREAT campaign to showcase the diversity of amazing moments and experiences that can be only be had on a trip across Britain. The GREAT Britain #OMGB ‘Home of Amazing Moments’ Award was offered for the photograph judged to best capture the spirit of the campaign. Mark Gilligan’s rainbow arcing over Wast Water in the Lake District National Park certainly met the brief and shows a truly ‘amazing moment’.
VisitBritain/VisitEngland Director of Marketing Robin Johnson said:
“As Mark’s spectacular image of Wast Water so aptly demonstrates, Britain is truly the home of amazing moments. It is a fantastic example of the powerful role that imagery plays in inspiring people to travel and experience new destinations, allowing them to literally ‘put themselves in the picture’. And it gives great creative expression to our #OMGB campaign to inspire people to put Britain top of the list as a ‘must-go-now’ destination, book a trip and come and find their own amazing moments.”
“It never ceases to amaze me the quality of work from entrants to these competitions, but then the varied landscapes of our beautiful country are truly inspirational! I am always humbled to be asked to get involved in some way, and congratulate everyone who took part.”
The exhibition of winners photographs will be held on display at the Balcony at London Waterloo for 11 weeks. (21st Nov – 5th Feb).
