Description

By prop plane, helicopter, camel, boat, 4 x 4 and on foot, Julia is on an epic journey to discover modern Australia and the people who live there. It’s a quest that takes her to the four corners of the continent, exploring vibrant experiences and iconic destinations with unexpected experiences. Across the series Julia explores behind the scenes at some of Australia’s most show stopping destinations; whether warming up with the cast at the Sydney Opera House, serving up breakfast on the Ghan train, joining the surf patrol on Bondi Beach, or interviewing candidates for the world’s best job (as desert island caretaker) on the Great Barrier Reef.

Julia explores Australian family life as it is lived in all its guises right across the continent – whether on a remote cattle station or an aboriginal outback swag. She goes to work with mums who are crocodile egg hunters, ranchers, and outback pilots. She plays teacher for a day at the Red Centre’s School of the Air, and hits the road with a retired group of grey nomads in their super-sized touring caravans.

Throughout her epic journey across Australia Julia is on the hunt for the unexpected aspects of modern Australia. And it’s a trail that leads her to some memorable “Only in Australia” experiences as among other things she attends the country’s only doggy surfing school, gets to grips with kangaroo golf, discovers the world’s most isolated pub, and enlists in a boat race thousands of miles away from water.. And of course her journey takes her through a variety of spectacular landscapes, from rainforest to red desert, and complete with unique wildlife encounters including emus, platypus, koalas, green turtles and perhaps even the Australian Yeti…
