Staying at Barnsdale Lodge

Barnsdale Lodge Hotel has forty-five bedrooms, all en-suite and individually furnished with charm and style. All have views of either the surrounding countryside or the picturesque courtyard. We also have our 3-bedroom Rutland Retreats which are available for self-catering.

The hotel has double, twin, single and family rooms with broadband connection, direct dial telephone, digital freeview, a selection of teas and coffee and biscuits, hairdryer and steam iron. Guests can enjoy a range of complimentary White Company toiletries in the bathrooms.

A number of bedrooms have been designed to take into consideration those with disabilities. These rooms are all on the ground floor with easy access, walk-in showers and handrails.

Barnsdale Lodge is dog friendly and reserves some rooms for guests with well trained dogs. During their stay they can relax in comfort on their own Emily Bond dog bed.

Dining at Barnsdale Lodge

Guests at Barnsdale Lodge Hotel can expect the very best food, wine and personal service in the conservatory, theatre, cottage room, main dining room, one of the function suites or alfresco dining in the courtyard.

Our kitchen brigade use locally sourced, seasonal produce. Local Suppliers include Manton Farm, for asparagus, raspberries and strawberries and Grasmere Farm for pork. We source our game from Easton Estate, approximately 12 miles from the hotel. We have a kitchen garden in the hotel grounds, growing vegetables and herbs which we use on many of the dishes in the restaurant. Our rare-breed hens also provide beautiful, fresh eggs.

Barnsdale Lodge’s restaurant is open to residents and non residents for breakfast, morning coffee, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner and is renowned for its private dining.

Weddings at Barnsdale Lodge

Barnsdale Lodge the perfect place to host your special day. The hotel has a choice of private function rooms enabling it to accommodate a wedding from 20 to 180. The Rigate, Rutland Room, Conservatory & Barn Suite are all licensed for civil ceremonies, as well as the stunning Fort Henry on Exton Park, just a couple of miles from Barnsdale Lodge.

Our Personal Events Organiser will offer advice and a wealth of experience, discuss your ideas and dreams and work with you to create your perfect day.

The hotel’s team of chefs can provide catering to suit, from an informal finger buffet to a five course dinner. The staff are friendly and efficient and will work hard to make your day memorable.

Conferences and Meetings

At Barnsdale Lodge you can experience the latest conference facilities, a superb setting and individual, personal service.

The Hotel has eight conference suites and rooms to suit events from a handful of people up to 330, the main being; The Barn, Rutland Room, Rigate and Fort Henry Suite. Most are on the ground floor and have disabled facilities.

Conference rooms are fully equipped with overhead projectors and screens, flipcharts, direct dial facilities and broadband. Pads and pencils, mineral water and cordials are supplied in each meeting room. Many other services are also available if pre-booked, including fax and photocopying, TV and video, 35mm slide projector, LCD multimedia projector, public address systems and secretarial support.

Additionally, team building activities including cycling, clay pigeon shooting and off-road driving take place in the Hotel grounds. We can also arrange staging, lighting and a range of audio-visual equipment in partnership with MPC Events and Parking is free with room for 200 cars.

Parties at Barnsdale Lodge

Barnsdale Lodge plays host to a variety of parties throughout the year. Anything goes at Barnsdale from a 21st Birthday party to a Golden Wedding Anniversary or Private Balls up to 750. Not only do Barnsdale provide their usual delicious food and impeccable service, but also organise Fireworks, Bands, DJs, entertainers to make your party just how you want it. Jane Hales will be your party organiser, guiding you through the from start to finish. With 44 en-suite bedrooms, there’s plenty of accomodation for guests to stay the night.

Barnsdale Lodge has an active calendar of in-house events including Burns Night, New Year’s Eve & Christmas which are all well attended. These events are found in forthcoming events.

Barnsdale Lodge Hotel has been in Thomas Noel’s family since 1760 and formed part of the adjoining Exton Park, seat of the Earls of Gainsborough..

Formerly a farmhouse, Barnsdale Lodge was converted by Thomas in 1989. The Hotel is positioned on the North shore of Rutland Water in the heart of the beautiful, unspoilt, county of Rutland, just a few minutes from the historic towns of Oakham, Oundle, Uppingham and Stamford.

Barnsdale Lodge is lovingly managed by Ed Burrows (Managing Director) and Paul Freeman (General Manager), outstanding stars of their trade. Thomas splits his time between Norfolk, Rutland and London where his interests have included a Club in Mayfair with Robin Birley and a directorship of Bride Hall Group.

Rutland Retreats is adjacent to Barnsdale Lodge Hotel and within easy walking distance, therefore guests can take advantage of the hotel’s on-site facilities including the hair and beauty salons, bar, lounge and restaurant, at any time of the day (advance booking is recommended).
