TV presenter Julia Bradbury and The Outdoor Guide donate to Wintercomfort Television presenter Julia Bradbury and her team at The Outdoor Guide have donated a considerable amount of essential equipment and resources to support homeless individuals in Cambridge.

Julia Bradbury recently volunteered to take part in a Sport Relief programme ‘Famous, Rich and Homeless’. The programme was aired in March and raised awareness of the realities and complexities of homelessness in the UK.

Inspired by Julia’s involvement of the programme, over 200 items of outdoor kit have been donated through The Outdoor Guide from Camping World, Outwell and Buff – including sleeping bags, socks and hand warmers and Buff neck warmers. The donations are being split between several charities around the UK, including Cambridge’s Wintercomfort for the homeless.

Julia said “I am genuinely touched and humbled by the effect that my taking part in this programme has had, and I thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for reaching out to these very important people”

Julia and her family have a connection to Cambridge including her father attending Cambridge University.

The programme that Julia Bradbury took part in highlight that homelessness in the UK has increase by 55% nationally since 2010, this something that resonates at Wintercomfort as we have seen the need for our services dramatically increase since 2010. We currently sup- port up to 60 individuals a day and over 700 individuals in the last year.

Sarah Halls – Director at Wintercomfort said:

“We are delighted to be receiving Julia and her team’s support for our invaluable work with the homeless and vulnerable housed in Cam- bridge. We were greatly impressed with Julia’s role in her recent Sport Relief homeless pro- gramme highlighting the various causes of homelessness and increasing awareness of the issues that people face. In June Wintercomfort will have been supporting the homeless in Cambridge for 25 years, the demand for our services continues to increase as more and more people are becoming homeless.”
