This short circular walk explores the historic town of Windsor, including the Queen’s residence at Windsor Castle and the banks of the River Thames.
In celebration of Queen Elizabeth II becoming the UK and Commonwealth’s longest-reigning monarch, The Outdoor Trust established this new Walkway around her home at Windsor in Berkshire for all to enjoy.
The route, a symbolic 6.321km long for 63 years and 210 days (Queen Victoria reigned for 63 years and 209 days), has been designed to link 63 of the town’s best attractions, parks, features and views.
The Queen opened The Queen’s Walkway in Windsor on her 90th birthday. The Outdoor Trust was supremely honoured to be included in the special walkabout in Windsor, a formal moment of ceremony in the middle of two days of birthday celebrations
The opening of The Queen’s Walkway completed a larger 6.37km route round Windsor, originally created to mark when Queen Elizabeth II first out-reigned Queen Victoria.
Windsor itself is a beautiful, unique and historic destination crowned by the largest and oldest inhabited castle in the world, and its magnificent gardens. The entire town is a wonderful place to walk, with plenty of shops, bars, cafes and restaurants to enjoy along the way.
