The Cliffpath walk by Mark Rodgers
This walk starts at Dunseverick Castle ruin on the County Antrim shoreline and from there takes you west along four and a half miles of outstanding coastal scenery. Along the way you can enjoy views from the path down into the bays that hold areas of outstanding natural beauty. Portmoon is a true hidden gem with it’s quaint fisherman’s bothy.
Port Fad was mined in days gone by and the entrance to the mine are still visible. Horseshoe cove and Port Truins are special but nothing can compare you for the ie from Hamilton’s seat . The headlands of the Causeway bays point toward Donegal, the full geology of our shoreline is there right in front of you and the best example of the columns in layers is visible at this extraordinary place.
Rest a while and then walk again west passing Port ha Spaniagh where the Spanish Armada ship the Girona sank in October 1588. The iconic Giants Causeway site comes into view and draws gently down of the Cliffpath to end your journey in spectacular style at the eighth wonder of the World.
