Walk Overview
The Fife Coastal Path is one of Scotland’s Great Trails, stretching for 117 miles from the Firth of Forth in the south to the Firth of Tay in the north.
The entire trail ranges in difficulty from easy and flat to wild and steep, providing challenges and exhilaration for every kind of walker.
You’ll marvel at the rugged beauty of Scotland’s east coast; pass through fishing villages and former coal mining towns; and walk along cliff-tops, award-winning beaches and estuaries.
Wildlife is abundant and the scenery is as changeable as the Scottish weather, making this a beautiful and unpredictable route.
You can walk the Fife Coastal Path in one long multi-day trip with overnight stops – many people break it into sections over eight days – or simply pick out your favourite parts and explore them in shorter single walks.
However you choose to do this walk you’ll be blown away by the archaeology, geology, architecture, beaches, culture, history, industry and wildlife you encounter along the way. From seabirds and dolphins to wildflowers and butterflies, nature will be with you every step of the way on the Fife Coastal Path.
This route was voted 62nd in a 2017 ITV poll to find Britain’s Favourite Walk.
TOG VERDICT: Not one of Britain’s most famous long-distance trails, but certainly one of its best.
