The Hotel was built in 1590 as an Elizabethan Manor House where Queen Elizabeth 1 is known to have stayed.
The Manor House is full of original features including the wood panelled Oak Room with a carved frieze by Indonesian sailors and large York stone fire place. Mullioned windows, window seats, fire places and an ornate staircase all add to its charm.
The hotel offers 21 comfortable bedrooms, some with stunning views of the castle, some with pretty views over the terrace. The Dacombe Rooms overlook a private walled garden which are well equipped accessible rooms just 50yds from the hotel.
Mortons has an award winning Two Star Rosette Restaurant offering a delicious and exciting menu. Guests are also invited to enjoy dining on the Terrace or in the Terrace Bar where dogs are welcome. Afternoon tea is available in the famous Oak Room and during chilly months an open fire warms the room.
