Television presenter Julia Bradbury and her sister Gina have gone back to their Derbyshire roots this Christmas to create a new taste experience for gin lovers inspired by their local countryside. Well known for their love of walking, The Outdoor Guide Gin (£39 75cl) is an exciting collaboration between Julia and Gina’s The Outdoor Guide website and Derbyshire Distillery, combining their respective love of the area and great outdoors to create a unique juniper gin with a twist of flowers, fruits and herbs.
Derbyshire Distillery was started in 2018, with a focus on beautifully crafted gins and local ingredients made in state-of-the-art Kothe and Genio stills.
Together with Julia and Gina they have created a delicious and unusual gin with a unique blend of fresh botanicals, blending traditional juniper with lavender, marigold and blackberry with hints of nettles and mint, all inspired by the Peak District. The result is a clear, invigorating and uplifting gin, with a soft, smooth finish. The bottle design is taken from a photograph of Julia sitting on top of her favourite spot – Noe Stool – in the High Peak of Derbyshire where she walked with her father as a young girl.
When Julia and Gina had the idea for a gin, they wanted to create something completely different, with an earthy, outdoor flavour that celebrated everything they love about the countryside where they grew up and still live. “I have many fond memories of walks with my Dad and would love people to enjoy this drink as a celebration at the top of a mountain or after a long walk when you’re feeling euphoric and get back to your bed for the night.” says Julia.
Enjoy The Outdoor Guide Gin served over ice and topped up with the Bradbury’s favourite Franklin & Son’s Natural Indian Tonic Water, or as part of a hot toddy for the perfect warm-you-up post-walk tipple. Available from derbyshiredistillery.com.
