Hi, I’m Victoria, a 52-year-old mother to three incredible individuals – Alex, James, and our beloved furry companion, Monty. Our family’s love for the great outdoors knows no bounds. About 90% of our cherished family photos feature us exploring nature during walks or camping weekends.
My husband is a true hill walking fanatic, and we seize every opportunity to escape to the Highlands of Scotland, immersing ourselves in its breath-taking beauty. As for me, I find joy in crewing with the local sailing club, relishing the serenity of the sea loch. Little did I know that my passion for nature and my background in marketing would intertwine in a profound way.
For over 20 years, I worked in marketing for a multinational consumer goods company, focusing on making prominent brands more environmentally sustainable.
I delved into the intricacies of developing products that prioritise sustainability by reducing water content and minimizing plastic packaging.
This journey kindled a deep interest within me and expanded my understanding of how our everyday products can significantly reduce their carbon emissions during production and transportation.
Venturing Out:
After bidding farewell to corporate life, I became a consultant, aiding companies in their pursuit of sustainable product innovation. However, I grew disheartened by the lack of ambition and genuine desire to develop more sustainable alternatives displayed by these companies. Simultaneously, my frustration mounted as I noticed the staggering number of single-use plastic bottles my family was consuming and subsequently recycling.
The Plastic Problem:
Driven by curiosity, I delved deeper into the issue and uncovered a dismaying truth: only 9% of household plastic waste is effectively recycled, leaving the majority to contribute to plastic pollution, be exported overseas, or incinerated, thereby exacerbating carbon emissions. These revelations compelled me to take action.
KinKind: A Solution for Change:
Motivated by my yearning to make a tangible difference, I harnessed my skills and expertise to create KinKind. KinKind is dedicated to eliminating plastic packaging from family bathrooms across the UK.
