Hello Toggers!

Coastal clean-ups

Be a litter hero, every walk counts!
Did you know the amount of litter dropped in the UK has rocketed by 500% since the 1960s? That’s not just a blot on our beautiful landscapes, it’s a real danger to people and wildlife. The RSPCA responds to hundreds of calls every year about animals caught in discarded rubbish.

It’s heartbreaking and avoidable.

That’s why I’m so proud to continue to support the Marine Conservation Society and its incredible work, especially through the Great British Beach Clean. Every September, volunteers up and down the country roll up their sleeves and make a visible difference to our coastlines, helping protect marine life and keeping our beaches safe for everyone.

But here’s the thing: you don’t have to wait for an organised event to take action. Every walk is an opportunity. Try the simple rule of three: pick up just three pieces of litter each time you’re out. It’s such a small act, but if we all did it, imagine the impact! Cleaner paths, safer wildlife, and a healthier planet for future generations.

So, next time you head outdoors, whether it’s a local park stroll or a windswept beach walk, remember: leave only footprints, take only memories and maybe a few pieces of litter too!

The Hilbre Island Circular

The Hilbre Island Circular

Yesterday I had the joy of visiting the wonderful Linghams in Heswall as part of my book tour. Thank you to everyone who came along, and to the brilliant team at Linghams for such a warm welcome!

This week’s walk is just a short hop away: the Hilbre Island Circular. At just over 10km, it’s a cracking route for blowing away the cobwebs. Think bracing sea breezes, seabirds dancing overhead, and sweeping views across the Wirral coast. A walk to fill your lungs, lift your spirits, and remind you how magical our shorelines can be.

Are you ready to Hack Yourself Healthy?

Hack Yourself Healthy

Thank you so much to everyone who has already bought a copy of my latest book, Hack Yourself Healthy- which is now officially a Number One Sunday Times Bestseller! It’s been wonderful to meet so many of you as I’ve traveled up and down the country talking about the book – and there are still more dates to come!

Next week the tour continues in Bath, Chorleywood and Canterbury where I will be sharing tales of my own. Then in October I’ll be at the Salt Marsh Coast Walking Festival in Malden (more about that below) before heading on to Henley, Cheltenham, Leyburn and Stamford.

Dreaming of a coastal escape?
This month’s competition could whisk you and your loved ones away to Whitsand Bay Fort in Cornwall for a 3-night stay at Hougoumont House (sleeps 7!). Clifftop walks, sandy bays, rich history; it’s all waiting for one lucky winner.

Whether you find yourself by the coast or wandering through the countryside, I hope you carve out time to walk yourself happy this week. Fresh air, movement, and nature’s little wonders really do make all the difference. And if you fancy joining me in person, I’d love to see you on my Hack Yourself Healthy book tour; it’s been such a joy meeting so many of you along the way.
