Elliot Brown emanates from a coastal playground where harsh natural elements and active outdoor lifestyles place huge demands on any timepiece. Conquering these demands meant refining and re-thinking every component, to create a watch with effortless style and rugged reliability at it’s core.

Frustrated that there wasn’t an ultra-durable watch that suited their lifestyle, they set about building one with the aim of eliminating some of the most common causes of watch failure. It had to look good, perform effortlessly, be thoroughly considered and every-day wearable for all wrist sizes.

Between them, Elliot & Brown share over 25 years building and maintaining watches used in harsh conditions like salt water, sand, vibration, mud, snow and rocks. Armed with this unique experience they set about solving the two key areas of shock and water resistance with a bespoke floating movement shield system and triple seals for all crowns and pushers that work 100% of the time in or out of water. They even submerge every watch in water and pressure test it to 20ATM / 200m for ten minutes.

The result is a rugged watch designed for all-day every-day use with an elegance that hides their go anywhere, do anything credentials with beautifully resolved detailing everywhere you look.

“My Canford watch ticks (no pun intended) so many boxes. I love the big clear face and that it’s British designed with a Swiss movement. It’s great for all the elements and wonderful that EB supports Mountain Rescue, a charity close to my heart. It is also great to see the elegant Kimmeridge ladies watch added to their collection.”

TOG Says …

“The Canford Mountain Rescue Edition from Elliot Brown is Julia’s stunningly good looking choice of watch for her Dorset, Yorkshire Dales and Lake District Shoot for her new ITV walking series. Every watch that is sold, Elliot Brown donates to Mountain Rescue England & Wales, keeping everybody safe of the hills.”

Elliot & Brown immerse themselves in a coastal playground where salt water, sand and harsh knocks place huge demands on any watch.

Distilling almost 20 years of experience from the world of extreme sports they threw off their career comfort blankets to develop a range of durable watches that could travel on every adventure, through every wave and look good on any occasion.

Every Elliot Brown is the result of 1000’s of hours spent obsessing over the smallest details; refining, improving, inventing, and testing. These award-winning watches shrug off harsh elements and are relied upon for ocean crossings, mountain rescues, and just about any kind of extreme or arduous adventure.

Each watch must pass a rigorous testing regime including immersion in water at 200m or 300m. It’s typical of the lengths this British brand goes to, in making sure each one is ready for duty in the office or on your next adventure.

“They’re built to last for years, not fashion seasons. There’s something comforting, putting on a watch that’s collected a few scrapes and scars, each with its own story to tell.”

Elliot & Brown
Ian Elliot was co-founder of Animal back in ’88, and built the brand up from a single, innovative, functional product – an ‘unbreakable’ watch-strap.

Alex Brown turned down a job at Cartier because it sounded more interesting to establish Animal’s watch department, where he stayed for seventeen years.
