Winchcombe is set in the heart of the beautiful Cotswolds. It has a timeless quality about it which makes it an attractive centre for walkers. A walled town in Saxon times, the town became prosperous as a result of the wool trade. The town has “Walkers are Welcome” status which means we will endeavour to make your stay and experience memorable.

This website gives you all the information you need if you are visiting Winchcombe, the walking centre for the Cotswolds, on one website. We have pages focused on walks, attractions, eating out, shops, accommodation and links to numerous websites where you can find a wealth of information.

We hope you use the local businesses on your visit, especially those supporting the Walkers are Welcome initiative. These are easily recognisable by the logo displayed in their windows.

TOG Says …

“We’re proud to be a working partner with the Winchcombe Walkers, helping to promote their amazing website and work.”

Welcome from the Chair

Since we started in 2009, each year we set ourselves new initiatives to promote walking in the Cotswolds, especially in Winchcombe and the message has reached the other side of the world. Our website is now a must for walkers visiting the area and our website is listed in national papers and magazines, guide books and dedicated walking websites.

We are proud we get no financial assistance from any local authorities and generate our own income from our supporters and publications.
We created and launched the Winchcombe Way and the Isbourne Way. Our researched self-guided walks are immensely popular and are often downloaded from our website.

Our Walking Festival attracts people from all over the country and brings money into the local economy. Businesses continue to support us and they are very accommodating when we show visitors from afar around the town.

The road signs leading into the town, displaying ‘Walkers are Welcome’ makes Winchcombe that bit special.

Our latest achievement is the new riverside footpath, an accessible path that is suitable for the very young and old, including wheelchair users and is proving very popular.
