Periwinkle Cottage is a picture postcard cottage situated on Selworthy Green. Set on a hillside on the edge of the National Trust Holnicote Estate, the views from Selworthy offer a breath-taking panorama of the adjacent villages, fields and Exmoor towards Dunkery Beacon.

Periwinkle Cottage sits at the heart of the green and has its origins in the 17th Century. Having been Tea Rooms & Garden for many years it now has a new lease of life with its new owners.

The Tea Rooms have been completely refurbished and redecorated. All the elements of a quintessential Tea Room still exist, but with a fresh and contemporary feel. All the cakes are baked by the owners and local produce is used wherever possible.

An ideal stopping point for walkers exploring the North Coast of Exmoor, the ancient forests, the open moorland and the National Trust Holnicote Estate. Muddy boots and muddy dogs always welcome in the Tea Rooms and Garden.

Who could leave Selworthy Green without a traditional Cream Tea? The only question is Cream on Jam, or Jam on Cream? Then walk it off in this beautiful part of the country.

Periwinkle Cottage Tea Rooms are open from February until January, seven days a week (Closed Christmas Day). Morning Coffee, Light Lunches, Cream Teas and a wide range of Miles Tea, Coffee and Soft Drinks available.

Cosy Tea Room with a warming log burner for chilly days and a large garden looking out across Exmoor for brighter days and hardy guests.

We make all our cakes on the premises and can cater for coeliac diets. Customer WiFi is provided, as are toilet facilities, highchair and dog bowls (maybe even a treat for our four legged friends).

TOG Says …

“We are thrilled to have Periwinkle Tea Rooms on The Outdoor Guide. The homemade cakes and scones look fantastic, we can’t wait to come and taste them. Of course cream first then jam when it comes to a scone!”
