Here at Hell Barn we have been running our self catering cottages and Japanese food business as a family concern for the past 20 years.
We are in an ideal location, which feels “away from it all”, nestled amongst hills and farmland, yet we are only a short, easy drive from the village with its shop and two pubs, the beaches and cliffs of the Jurassic coast, and the nearby town of Bridport and West Bay with its abundant restaurants, two excellent entertainment venues and its quirky vintage quarter. The fossil beaches of Charmouth and Lyme Regis are just 15 minutes away by car.
We can provide freshly cooked authentic Japanese food to guests , which we bring to your cottage, and to non-residents, who can eat in our farmhouse (advance booking only). We are proud of the fact that we have introduced this cuisine to many of our guests, who may otherwise never have had the opportunity to try it.
We also import top quality Japanese Green tea, which we sell to individuals and restaurants all over the country.
Our large, attractive, shared garden is an ideal place for children to play, or adults to relax in at any time of day. Guests often take full advantage of the games room with its ping pong table, pool table and other childrens’ play equipment.
We are attempting to be more conscious of the environment and use a renewable energy supplier and biodegradeable bin bags. It is not much but it is a start!

Hell Barn Cottages are five stone-built, converted barns set around the farmhouse. The rooms are spacious and comfortably furnished, with simple decoration. The kitchens are well equipped, and the sitting rooms have freesat television and dvd players. Bathrooms have baths and showers over the bath.
We have a selection of authentic, traditional Japanese dishes available, such as tempura, teriyaki, tonkatsu and grilled fish. All come with rice, soup and salad.
We will bring your meal to your cottage and take away the empty dishes at the end, so you can enjoy your meal with no effort.
We have a selection of Japanese teas, all of which come from one farm in Kyushu, Japan.
