Walk With a View…

This is a beautiful walk through the Dorset countryside – starting inland in the Domesday village of Symondsbury and heading out to the coast and the spectacular Golden Cap.

It’s a walk that featured in Julia’s series of Britain’s Best Walks with A View for ITV.

Our route takes us across 3 hills – as we head west from Symondsbury we first climb Colmer’s Hill. Continuing onwards we come to North Chideock and then onto Morecombelake where we encounter our second hill – Hardown Hill.

From here we start to head southwards towards the spectacular Jurassic Coast. It’s a sharp climb that takes us up onto Golden Cap. This is the highest point on England’s south coast – and you feel like you’re standing on the edge of the world with the open sea ahead of you.

From here it’s downwards into Seatown where our walk concludes. It’s a great place to grab some fish and chips with a view out across Lyme Bay.

This isn’t a circular walk so you’ll either need to arrange transportation back to where you started or consult your map to get you on to your next destination.

TOG Tip: This isn’t a circular walk so either phone a friend or hitch a ride back to your car!

Remember to prepare properly before heading out on any type of walk or outdoor activity. Tell people where you are going and what time you are expected back. As Wainwright says "There's no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing".
