Walk Details
This is a great walk in one of the more remote spots in the Lake District that offer some stunning views. It is wheelchair accessible and suitable for anyone who wants to enjoy a walk without any stiles to clamber over.

There is limited off road parking available just above the Blencathra Field Centre – make sure you get there as early as you can as it does get quite busy. From here the walk follows the bridleway which initially takes us along the contours of Blease Fell.

It’s a generally good track but can get muddy and there are places where you will have to ford. As such – we’d recommend not doing this walk after any heavy rainfall. This is especially so of the ford north of Skiddaw House.

It’s worth stopping in at Skiddaw House to learn more about the history and have a cuppa and delicious flapjack!

This is a linear walk – you will either need to retrace your steps back to your car or consult your trusty map to take you on to your next destination.

Access TOG Verdict:

This is a great walk – provided there’s not been any heavy rain! It is rugged terrain so something like the TerrainHopper or another 4×4 all-terrain wheelchair is perfect.

There is a lovely wheelchair-accessible community cafe in Threlkeld, close to the start, which also offers blue badge parking for visitors to the café.

Remember to prepare properly before heading out on any type of walk or outdoor activity. Tell people where you are going and what time you are expected back. As Wainwright says "There's no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing".
