Walk Details
For a small fee you can hire a rugged ‘Tramper’ mobility scooter, provided by Countryside Mobility SW, from The National Trust Count House at Botallack.
Built around 1861, the Count House was the residence and offices for the Captain and staff of the Botallack Mine.

It was lovingly restored by the National Trust and is now open to the public as an information centre and café. In 2006 Botallack was given world Heritage Site Status by UNESCO.
From the Count House turn left onto the road toward s the village of Botallack. At the disused shed turn right onto Botallack Moor past the mine chimney and the disused tips to Manor Farm.
Continue on this track which follows the footpaths at the top of the valley. From here you can see the remains of the Kenidjack stream works. The path circles around view point. Retrace your steps towards Wheal Owles and take the left path towards Wheal Drega.
The path is fairly steep but suitable for the Tramper. Spend some time exploring the arsenic maze before taking the track back to the carpark.
Enjoy a Cornish Pasty and a cup of tea at the café… and dream about meeting Poldark….sigh!
