Cumbrian History and Rambling
Award winning writer, broadcaster and local historian, Beth Pipe, will share the fascinating stories of the local area and its inhabitants, on some less strenuous walks around the Northern Lakes. Don’t worry, it won’t be all be dry and boring facts and figures – Beth is one of the most fabulous, fun and infectious people (but not in a Covid way) I have ever met!
This is what she has to say about the holiday:
“I’ll be honest, I hated history at school – somehow they managed to make it all sound so dull! These days I absolutely love it, although that’s perhaps because the older I get, the nosier I get – I’m never content to just see an old building, or track, or other landmark, when I’m out walking, I want to know what it was, who put it there, and why?
On this walking holiday I get to indulge both my passion for walking and my passion for history and share it with a bunch of like-minded women. I also have a passion for gin and a passion for cake, so I promise it won’t all be dirty boots and dusty books!”
