Hello Toggers!

Celebrating the solstice

Walking with energy
It was in the summer of 1921 that Alfred Watkins made an extraordinary discovery – that many historically salient places are connected by straight lines. He called these lines “ley lines”. Believed to possess mystical or energetic qualities, they were thought to be used by ancient societies for navigational and ceremonial purposes. The epicentre of earth energy is said to be Stonehenge where 14 ley lines converge. Whilst there is no scientific evidence of ley lines, it has been noted by others that they follow ancient pilgrimage routes, connecting sacred monuments and places of worship.

At the end of next week Stonehenge will again be the focus of the summer solstice celebrations. If you’re keen see the world famous stone circle for yourself – our walk this week will take you there.

Stonehenge from Amesbury

Celebrating the solstice
It’s not often you get to walk past a world famous prehistoric monument – but this walk allows you to do just that! Starting in the pretty town of Amesbury, this is a 6 mile circular walk that offers some amazing views of Stonehenge. There are many myths and legends about the origins of the stones – and seeing them always brings a sense of awe and wonder. The walk also crosses the multiple ley lines that converge in the stone circle.

A place by the sea

Celebrating the solstice
As the summer holidays approach we all dream of having our own place by the sea, a bolt hole that can be escaped to whenever the urge takes us. That dream could become a reality. Dartmouth Grove is nestled in the south Devon countryside, surrounded by some of the best golfing in the area and nature in abundance. With some stunning beaches just a short drive away – you’re not going to want to leave!
