Walk Details
Located just off the Northumberland coastline is the tidal island of Lindisfarne. It can be accessed at low tide only via a causeway. The island offers plenty to explore including the ruins of a mediaeval priory, a 16th century castle and a nature reserve.
Our walk today starts from the Green Lane car park. This is a car park for Blue Badge holders only. From here we go up through the village towards the Priory and then down to the castle which is now under the care of the National Trust. We also recommend taking some time to visit the Lindisfarne Heritage Centre (which is wheelchair accessible).
Access TOG Verdict:
This is a fairly flat route and uses the roads and tarmac paths on the island making it ideal for manual wheelchair users. There are also several benches along the way to rest tired legs and take in the amazing views on offer. Accessible toilets are available in the Green Lane Car Park should they be needed.

Remember to prepare properly before heading out on any type of walk or outdoor activity. Tell people where you are going and what time you are expected back. As Wainwright says "There's no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing".
