Walk Details

This wheelchair friendly walk in one of the more remote spots in the Lake District offers stunning mountains views. It is a great walk for anyone who wants to enjoy miles without stiles.

There is limited off road parking just above Blencathra Field Centre. Get there early as it can get busy. The walk follows the bridleway which initially contours around Blease Fell.

The track is generally good, but can get muddy and there are places where you will have to ford. This is not a route to be done after heavy rain.

Skiddaw House is worth a visit for history, tea and flapjack :o)

Be advised, the ford north of Skiddaw House can be impassable after heavy rain.

There is a lovely wheelchair-accessible community cafe in Threlkeld, which also offers blue badge parking for visitors to the café.

I used the TerrainHopper, an 4×4 all-terrain wheelchair, for this walk because of the rugged terrain but a good stretch of the track would be suitable for a Mountain Trike.
