A circular walk around Malham Tarn
This is an easy circular route on unmade tracks and quiet country roads. It was the very first trek I did using an all-terrain wheelchair. It felt so exhilarating to be out and about in an area of the Yorkshire Dales that previously would have been inaccessible for wheelchair users.

The route has been tested using a TerrainHopper, Tramper and a mountain trike: it may not be suitable for other types of motor scooter – please check with the manufacturer if unsure before attempting this circular trek. The terrain is generally flat, but it can get muddy in some areas.

The trek begins at the Malham Tarn Office, grid ref: SD886674, where you are able to hire out an all-terrain wheelchair from the National Trust Estate Office.

The Tramper is available to borrow Mondays – Fridays between 10am – 2pm, you will need to book it in advance by calling us on 01729 830416.

Debs Verdict:
The Tramper is there to be used! A great opportunity to experience the feeling of being alive in the Dales.

Remember to prepare properly before heading out on any type of walk or outdoor activity. Tell people where you are going and what time you are expected back. As Wainwright says "There's no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing".
