Hello Toggers!
Time to unwind by the sea
School is very much out for the summer and families across the country are heading to the coast or sunnier climes for their annual holiday. The majority will be drawn to coastal locations. The appeal of golden sands and turquoise seas are reason enough – but there’s another reason why being by the sea helps us to relax and unwind.
When water breaks, as it does with each wave crashing along the shoreline, so negative ions are released into the atmosphere. When we breathe them in, they increase our overall sense of well-being. More than that, the ebb and flow of the waves also contain powerful mood enhancing effects, encouraging our minds to move away from the vortex of never ending thoughts of day to day life.
Exploring Firle Beacon
This week we’re headed to East Sussex for our walk. This circular walk takes us up onto Firle Beacon for amazing views out across the South Downs in one direction and the sea in the other. Plus – there’s one of Sussex’s best kept secrets on the way back – a hidden tea garden offering delicious treats!
Helping keep me in step
While smart watches may traditionally be seen as something to help runners, they are great for walkers too. Not only tracking your steps, but also offering you the chance to pause and take some mindful time out in nature. Holly from the TOG team has written a blog about how her Garmin smart watch has become an essential part of her walking kit.
