Walk Details
This walk from the David Marshall Lodge takes you through some lovely oak woodland.
Start Point – The Lodge (Forestry Commission visitor centre – previously known as the David Marshall Lodge). NN517015. Pay & Display parking. Toilets, cafe & gift shop at the lodge.
To get there – turn right out of Tigh Mor and follow the A821 towards Aberfoyle. The lodge is on your left, about 1⁄2 mile from Aberfoyle as you walk downhill towards the village.

WALK INSTRUCTIONS
Start at the front door of the lodge. Keep left to pass along two sides of the lodge and with the verandah on your left, follow the path straight in front of you which zig zags downhill.
In about 150m (2 mins) you will come to a path with a white/green/blue/red waypost. Cross over (it is a staggered junction so you actually turn right & then immediately left) then in another 150m, you’ll cross a cycle path (NCN 7) signposted Callander and Aberfoyle.
Cross this second staggered junction,(a left then right turn) and continue along the path with green wayposts.
In about 50m, you’ll reach a T junction, where you should turn left and follow the sign for the Oak Coppice Trail.
In another 50m ,turn right at the next T junction and continue to follow the green wayposts. Continue along the main path through the woodland.
In about 200m, you’ll come to a small burn where you should take the path to the left and walk up the hill. You’ll soon come to a fenced enclosure.
After that you’ll come to another T junction past another green waypost (There’s a short cut straight ahead if you fancy). The main path takes you left and down some shallow stone steps, where, about 200m from the junction, you’ll see the wooden huts of the Dounans Outdoor centre across the burn to your right.
If you’ve taken the shortcut mentioned earlier, this now rejoins the main path to your left and you pass out of the fenced enclosure through another kissing gate.
The path now rises in a steep incline and with the burn on your right, in about 400m, you’ll pass a path signposted red on your right leading to a bridge. Keep straight on following the sign which points to the lodge.
In around 200m, keep to your right and follow alongside the burn past the multicoloured waypost until you come to the bridge beside the waterfall. Instead of crossing the bridge, take the path past the waterfall.
With the waterfall now behind you, you’ll soon come to a signposted fork in the road. Keep to your right and follow the blue wayposts up the hill.
You’ll reach a small stone bridge in another 300m where you should carry on straight ahead to the carpark.
