Hello Toggers!

Getting outside with mans best friend

Take a walk with mans best friend
If you’ve ever walked with a dog, you’ll know it’s a very different experience to walking without one. It goes beyond just having a companion to walk with – you pay more attention to the environment you’re in, you perhaps walk further than you might on your own and will walk no matter the weather. More than that though – studies have shown that being with your dog can increase levels of oxytocin (the love hormone), decrease cortisol (the so-called stress hormones) and reduce anxiety levels. According to a study in Sweden – owning a dog can also help reduce your risk of dying from any cause!

If you don’t have a dog of your own or one you can easily borrow – contact your local rescue centre. They’re often in need of volunteers to walk their dogs who are waiting for their forever homes.

Dog friendly days out

Getting outside with mans best friend

Whether you’re walking with a dog, with friends and family or taking a solo wander – you’ll find some wonderful walks to explore at National Trust managed estates. This week we’re heading to Kent to explore the dog friendly grounds of Sissinghurst Castle. This walk takes you through a fraction of the 450 acres that can be explored on foot.
