Hello Toggers!

Foodie Workshops

When your walk becomes a workout and your body says thank you!

We’ve all been there. Standing at the bottom of a hill, feeling bold, thinking, ‘Let’s do this.’ But halfway up, legs burning and breath quickening, it hits us: This isn’t just a walk, it’s a workout.

That uphill push? It’s actually doing wonders. Climbing raises your heart rate, fires up the calorie burn, and floods your system with endorphins — those feel-good hormones that lift your mood and energise your day. And it’s not just your legs doing the hard work: hills call in your abs, hips, glutes, and back to stabilise you, while your arms swing into action, powering your stride and toning your obliques as you go.

Heading back down, your body doesn’t clock off; your muscles work differently, lengthening and strengthening as they resist gravity’s pull to keep you steady. And here’s the science bit: studies show that more challenging walks like this can supercharge your mitochondria: the tiny powerhouses inside your cells that help fuel your body from the inside out.

So if you’re ready to turn your next ramble into a real re-energiser, we’ve got the perfect route lined up. Scroll down to discover this week’s featured walk — it’s a heart-pumper, but the views are worth every step!

Golden Cap

Foodie Workshops

On the Jurassic coastline of Dorset you’ll find a walk and a half – the mighty Golden Cap (which also happens to also be the highest point along the south coast). Starting from the Domesday village of Symondsbury, the walk gives us not one but three hill climbs to give you a really good workout. The views from this walk certainly make up for it though … as do the delicious fish and chips waiting for you in Seatown when you reach the end!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined me at the Walk Yourself Happy events this week. It was a joy to share the walks, the laughter, and the little moments of calm that only nature can bring. Once again, you reminded me how powerful walking together can be for our minds, bodies, and sense of connection.

Whether you were there in person or walking your own path this week, I hope you keep making time for fresh air, movement and joy!
