Autumnal Walks
September heralds the start of autumn. The children are back at school. The nights are starting to draw in. The leaves of the trees are starting to change colour. It’s a wonderful time of year to get outside for a walk. This week we’re headed to the New Forest National Park for our walk where we can walk amongst some giants!

A walk amongst giants
Rhinefield Ornamental Drive near Brockenhurst in the New Forest was voted as one of the nations favourite walks and is great for all the family to enjoy. Whilst the New Forest is known for its ancient oak, ash and beech woodlands, here you’ll find an abundance of redwood trees that tower high above you. Pause for a moment to hug one. You might be surprised at how soft and welcoming these gentle giants are!

A short distance from Rhinefield is New Park Manor which offers home from home comfort for all the family. There’s also a variety of spa treatments on offer – the perfect way to relax after a day walking.

Walk Yourself Happy – now available in paperback!
Going for a walk, one of the most accessible activities for most of us, is the fastest and easiest way to embed yourself in nature. You don’t need expertise or equipment; you just need to put one foot in front of another. You don’t need an epic landscape either, you can walk down the street or in your local green space. Though, as you will learn from this Sunday Times bestselling book, a walk in the park is rarely just that.

Claire Lomas MBE
21 March 1980 – 22 August 2024
Julia, Gina and the whole of Team TOG were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Access TOG Ambassador, Claire Lomas at the end of last month. Following a horse riding accident in 2007 which left her paralyzed, she became a champion for those in a similar situation, showing that a disability doesn’t have to mean you can’t live your life to the fullest. Her legacy is to have inspired so many others. Our thoughts at this sad time are with her husband Dan, children Maisie and Chloe and all who knew her.
