Heading Outdoors
With the clocks going forward last weekend here in the UK and across Europe, we’re now in summertime. With longer, warmer and hopefully drier days ahead – our attention turns to the outdoor adventures we have planned. Whether an experienced hiker or an enthusiastic beginner – we’re here to offer our thoughts and experience to help you make the most of every step you take!
Stunning Shropshire
This week we’re headed to Shropshire and the stunning walk to the Carding Mill Valley and Long Mynd. Starting in Church Stretton it’s a great circular trail that also includes the Lightspout Waterfall.
One of our favourite places to stay in Shropshire is Love2Stay. With touring pitches and glamping pods available – you get luxury as standard here. We’ll be back here again next month (21-22 May) for the Walk Yourself Happy Wellbeing Retreat. There are still some places available to join Julia and her team of experts for what promises to be a very special couple of days.
The essential kit
How much you enjoy a walk or a hike can, in part, be down to how prepared you are for it. It’s fair to say that for many walks there’s not a huge amount of kit needed – but some additional items can make a difference to your day. TOG Blogger Jane Marsh has created a handy checklist for both beginner and experienced hikers of the kit you might find useful
Outdoor Expo 2024
Thank you so much to everyone who came to see us at the NEC in Birmingham last month for the National Outdoor Expo. It’s become one of our favourite weekends of the year. Julia came along on Saturday and was joined by two of the experts from her Walk Yourself Happy Retreats (Lisa and Hannah) to talk about all things well-being. Then on Sunday The Outdoor Guide Foundation Ambassador, Gemma Hunt did story time for the children with her latest book. Also on the stand were TOG Friends Love2Stay, Coventry Outdoors, Flanci and Healthy Back Bag amongst others.
