Almost time to head back to school
Just like that, in the blink of an eye, the school summer holidays are almost over. For some the wait is almost over for their exam results. And for others it’ll soon be time to dig out the PE kit once more and restock the pencil case. It’s not exactly been the sunniest of summers on record … or at least it hasn’t been where we are in the UK! When you’ve got a set of waterproofs, the wet weather isn’t a major problem. But when you don’t, especially as we start to head into the colder months, then it can prevent you from spending time outdoors.
We believe that everyone, especially every child, has the right to outdoor play. Here at The Outdoor Guide it was something we all enjoyed as children and we want the same for the children of today and tomorrow. It’s one of the reasons why we started The Outdoor Guide Foundation and the Waterproof & Wellies campaign. It’s sadly the case that around one third of primary school aged children in the UK are in households that live below the poverty line. With little money available for the essentials – there’s certainly not the money for wet weather clothes
And that’s where we come in.
Our mission is to provide every state primary school in the country with at least 10 sets of waterproof jackets, trousers and wellington boots. That way – every child can have that opportunity for outdoor play, no matter the weather.
We’re grateful to all of the TOG friends and partners who have also got behind us on this campaign for their support. We couldn’t do what we do without you – thank you!
If you’d like to support us too – read on for details of how you can help.
