Summer Picnics
It may be hard to believe on some days recently, but now we’re firmly in summer it’s the perfect time to head out on a picnic. In fact July is National Picnic Month. Whether it’s just a trip to your local park or beach, or pausing for a while mid way through a weekend walk – for some reason your sandwiches always taste that bit better when you’re eating them outdoors.
Exploring Peebles
This week we’re heading north, to the pretty town of Peebles in Borders region. Our friend, Charlie Sim has recommended some great walks in the area – and we’ll be doing the Glentress and River Tweed circular walk that has a great picnic spot en route!
The walk starts (and finishes) at the Peebles Hydro Hotel which is where we’ll be staying. It’s a beautiful hotel offering delicious local produce on the menu – perfect for after a day out hiking.
Sustainable alternatives
Reducing our impact on the planet is something we feel strongly about here at TOG and we love working with partners who feel the same. One of those is &Keep – an online store specialising in sustainable alternatives to everyday items. If you feel inspired to go out for a picnic – check out their range of picnic wear.
Tasty Treats
Every picnic needs some tasty treats – it’s one of those unwritten rules in life! All too often a treat is assumed as something that might not be that healthy and good for us – but with the delicious muffins that our friends at Sow & Arrow make we know that’s not the case. You see you can have your cake and eat it …
Pauline Cox, co-founder of Sow & Arrow, is our expert nutritionist for the Walk Yourself Happy Retreats. She has shared her thoughts with us on whether diets work. You can read what she has to say on our blog.
