CavingCaving

Caving

Being deep underground is a unique experience. The peace, beauty and darkness of the caves envelop you, and your small group in the bubble of light given off by your head torch. Caving is both humbling and exciting: a natural wonderland where every formation out-ages your whole known family tree.

Caves have formed each, with their unique character and challenges which make it a fantastic sport when adapted at the right level for our adventurous customers. From entering via a waterfall using a rope to wheeling in a wheelchair through large water-worn passageways – there are options aplenty.

People worry that they might get stuck in tight spaces, let us reassure you, that the passages are generally large – it’s normal to stand up for most of the time. There may be a crawl or two but there is never a squeeze unless given as an optional challenge.

We have a meeting point in Ingleton for Caving and as many caves are weather dependent we make final plans on the day when we meet you.

Cheltenham at New Year 29/12

During these breaks, we’ll walk one of the finest stretches of the Cotswold Way to Leckhampton Hill before taking in the spectacular views from the Devil’s Chimney and the Cotswold Escarpment, with fantastic views across the River Severn to Wales. We can also walk out to Cooper’s Hill, famous for its annual cheese rolling competition and ascend The Peak for another Cotswold panorama before descending through the village of Little Witcombe.

CHOOSING AN E-BIKECHOOSING AN E-BIKE

Choosing an e-bike

Even in the Raleigh collection there are 21 different models of e-bikes to meet all price points and differing lifestyles. There’s the stylish and affordable Raleigh Array which starts at £1000 and is ideal for people looking to get back into the saddle after a few years out. Then there’s the more aggressive Raleigh Strada TSE which delivers a new urban cycling experience.

We’d recommend that you visit a Raleigh dealer to take you through the options, so you can choose the perfect e-bike for you. Your dealer will ensure the e-bike’s the right size for your height, take you through how it works and make sure it’s perfectly set up. Raleigh dealers offer a ‘See, Try, Buy’ service also means you can try out different e-bikes to see which one suits you best and get the best possible advice from the experts at your local shop.

ClimbingClimbing

Climbing

Rock climbing is for those who love working things out – it is literally about solving physical problems with your body: how to get from your current position to the next position needed to progress up or along the climb.

Further to the personal challenge there develops quickly a culture of collective problem solving from the team on the ground: who can see from a different perspective, the problem you are tackling. There – like all great adventure sports – is a simplicity to climbing which helps you focus and enjoy the unique experience of defying gravity on terrain near the limit of what a human can traverse.

We have a range of climbing venues that we use including wheelchair access to the base of the crag. We can also adapt systems to physically assist the climbers. Extra support on the ropes makes it easier for the climber to ascend. A parallel rope allows a guide alongside providing physical support, coaching and reassurance.

We climb both indoors and out depending on the weather and objectives of the experience. You can try climbing for the day, join us for a climbing weekend, learn to climb independently or join us on European climbing trips.

Death in the Dales by Frances Brody

The books of Frances Brody are an excellent way of discovering parts of the Dales you might not have seen otherwise. Death in the Dales is set around Settle and Langcliffe which are only a short distance from this walk. You can certainly get a good view from Malham of the setting on the book’s cover and the delights of this part of the world Private Investigator Kate Shackleton investigates:

“On the approach to Settle, I noticed the whiteness of the roads, due to the limestone formation. Sharply defined hills, boulders and rocks stood out against green foliage.
