Walk Details
Our walk starts in Winchcombe, described as the “jewel in the Cotswold Crown”. From here we head south and pick up the Winchcombe Way. Walking past Wadfield Farm and Humblebee Cottages, we zig-zag our way up towards Belas Knap – a particularly fine example of a neolithic long barrow (a burial mound that contained the remains of 38 human skeletons).
From here we join the Cotswold Way heading downwards and northwards before we start our ascent up towards the summit of Cleeve Hill.
Cleeve Hill Common, is an unusual setting that sees sheep and walkers happily sharing the landscape with a century-old golf course. But the Common offers them all extraordinary views, sweeping along the valley of the Severn Estuary and across to Wales to the distant Brecon Beacons – a satisfying six-mile walk.
This is where our walk ends so you will either need to retrace your steps or consult your map to get to your next destination.
