Walk Details
Starting and ending in the hamlet of Hollinsclough, this is an invigorating 3.9-mile walk that takes you through the picturesque landscape of the Staffordshire and Derbyshire Peaks.
The journey begins along field paths and pretty country lanes, offering breathtaking views of the limestone hills, farms and framed by traditional stone walls.
The highlight of the route is the exhilarating climb along the crest of the famous ‘Dragon’s Back,’ (the hill looks just like a Dragon’s Back with jaggedy points like scales) which includes ascending to the summit of Chrome Hill at 425 metres. From here you will enjoy panoramic views across the valley, with the striking shape of Parkhouse Hill standing prominently ahead.
The descent begins via grassy field paths and quiet country lanes that take you back to Hollinsclough. This walk provides a great mix of stunning scenery and a solid physical challenge. Be prepared for steep ascents, descents, and some scrambling over uneven rocks, especially near the top of Chrome Hill. This route is perfect for those looking for adventure and a test of endurance amidst the beauty of the Peak District.
