Walk Details
Hello, I’m Sharon and I’m passionate about showing how everyone, no matter their ability, can enjoy the magic of time spent outdoors. As an Accessibility Ambassador for The Outdoor Guide I’m excited to share some of my favourite accessible walks with you all.
This route takes us along part of the South West Coast Path – and I absolutely loved it! The starting point is the Basset Cove Car Park (TR14 0HE) – it’s worth noting that the car park isn’t signposted so you will need to use your sat-nav to find it (and keep an eye out for some large pot holes that I encountered!). When you get there – it’s a free car park on a hilltop that offers some amazing views out to sea. There are some other car parks along the way if you’d prefer a shorter walk.
The route starts with a little climb – but I managed it ok in my electric wheelchair. After the climb the route levels out, giving you the opportunity to really enjoy the views on offer – they are stunning! The terrain is good and well kept – but we did have to turn around and retrace our steps back as the onward path towards Godrevy isn’t yet accessible. However – if you are on foot and want a slightly longer walk, do keep going before turning back!
There aren’t any toilets or refreshment stops on the walk – but I do recommend the Tehidy Woods Cafe which is fairly close. Alternatively, about a 10 minute drive away is the National Trust car park at Godrevy where there are accessible toilets and a lovely little cafe that has delicious food and outdoor seating. If you’re lucky you may also get to see some of the local seals sunbathing!

Remember to prepare properly before heading out on any type of walk or outdoor activity. Tell people where you are going and what time you are expected back. As Wainwright says "There's no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing".
