Walk Details

Hello, I’m Sharon and I’m passionate about showing how everyone, no matter their ability, can enjoy the magic of time spent outdoors. As an Accessibility Ambassador for The Outdoor Guide I’m excited to share some of my favourite accessible walks with you all.

This route takes us along part of the South West Coast Path with this easy access small trail that starts at the Lands End Car Park (TR19 7AA). There are around 20 disabled parking bays here should you need one.

Starting from the car park, follow the route to your left. This is a tarmacked wide path which leads down a gentle slope. The views of this impressive coastline to your right are just incredible. You may spot that there are some off-road paths here – I did try them but my electric wheelchair wasn’t too keen to do them! Staying on the pathway, as you start descending you will see in the distance a little animal farm with Llamas and other animals. It’s certainly not what I was expecting to see here – but so lovely to see children interacting with the animals. From here you will need to retrace your steps to head back towards the car park and the main complex at Lands End. There are accessible toilets just by the entrance if you need them. – Here you will also find plenty of options for food and drink along with other things to see and do – including the famous sign post.

The views here are just stunning. If you follow the pathway to the right you can see a white house in the distance which is actually a cafe. There is a tarmac path on both sides, but one is steeper than the other. At the cafe, there is outdoor seating so you can admire the view whilst enjoying some refreshments.

For those who are able, you can continue along the rugged coastline from here. Otherwise, you can retrace your steps back towards the main complex and then on to the car park.

It’s definitely somewhere different to go, you can be really close to the coastline in a wheelchair which is what I love. I hope you enjoy it too.

Remember to prepare properly before heading out on any type of walk or outdoor activity. Tell people where you are going and what time you are expected back. As Wainwright says "There's no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing".
