Walk Details
Hello, I’m Sharon and I’m passionate about showing how everyone, no matter their ability, can enjoy the magic of time spent outdoors. As an Accessibility Ambassador for The Outdoor Guide I’m excited to share some of my favourite accessible walks with you all.
This route takes us along part of the South West Coast Path – this definitely one of my favourites. The starting point is the small National Trust Park Head Car Park (PL27 7UU) – the entrance is a little hidden and not particularly well sign posted but your sat nav should get you there ok.
The route starts with a gate that can open both forwards and backwards and has a little lever that moves sideways. This takes you down an enclosed track to another gate. This is where you start to see the breathtaking views.
Turning to your left you will go along two fields – if it has been raining a lot it can get quite muddy, but the grass is well kept and flat. You then come to the last gate and this is where the view definitely takes your breath away. Looking over Bedruthan steps and Newquay in the distance.
The fields here sometimes have livestock in – if this is the case, and you have your dog with you, please ensure they are kept on a lead and under control.
Following the pathway to your right and just taking in the spectacular views and stunning coastline. This is a level grass terrain and often runners use it. The view just keeps getting better as you continue along here – looking out at the coastline heading towards Padstow with the lighthouse in the distance.
As we reached the peninsula we did have to turn around and retrace our steps back as the onward path goes down steps onto the beach with steps the other side.
I genuinely love this place – it’s high up on my list. The views are just incredible, and there’s something really special about being able to access a flat stretch of the coastal path in such a peaceful, tucked-away spot.
There aren’t any toilets or refreshments along this walk – the nearest facilities are just a three-minutes drive away at the Carnewas National Trust location. They also have a café with indoor and outdoor seating.
This really is an escape to nature and lots of birdlife, you may even see one of the famous choughs! Listening to the waves and the singing of the birds is just pure joy on this brilliant flat coastal route.

Remember to prepare properly before heading out on any type of walk or outdoor activity. Tell people where you are going and what time you are expected back. As Wainwright says "There's no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing".
