Walk Details

Hello, I’m Sharon and I’m passionate about showing how everyone, no matter their ability, can enjoy the magic of time spent outdoors. As an Accessibility Ambassador for The Outdoor Guide I’m excited to share some of my favourite accessible walks with you all.

Our walk starts from Penzance Train Station. If you decide to drive here – there is a car park (TR18 2LT) that has disabled parking bays and accessible toilets located in the station itself. There’s also a great cafe wagon outside the train station – but seating undercover so you will be exposed to the elements of the day.

This is a great trail following the South West Coast Path towards Marazion. It’s an easy trail with just a couple of slight slopes in places. As you get closer to Marazion there are two road crossings which should be done with care.

If you are a wheelchair user – you will naturally come to a point where you need to turn around and retrace your route back towards Penzance. For those who are able though – there is the opportunity to continue over the dunes.

There is nowhere to recharge your wheelchair along the way – so make sure you have good batteries that are fully charged. In case of emergency – there are buses and taxis that can help you get back to where you began!

This is a route with little shade so please take care on warm days – especially if you are walking with your dog (if it is warm – it’s perhaps better to leave your cool).

The views out across the sea are amazing on this walk – especially when you see St Michaels Mount in all its glory. It is a popular route and perfect for taking a stroll whilst breathing in all that good sea air! This route is a real treat that I think you’ll enjoy.

Remember to prepare properly before heading out on any type of walk or outdoor activity. Tell people where you are going and what time you are expected back. As Wainwright says "There's no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing".
