Walk Details

Evenlode is a quiet village, with lovely old houses scattered over a wide area. Chastleton is merely a hamlet with a church, but Chastleton House (managed by the National Trust) is a fine Jacobean building.

This walk, connecting the two settlements, is a very easy, almost level, route on lanes and byways. However, the first part could have rather long grass on the edge of a meadow.

Start by walking across the village green, pass a ‘Millenium Stone’, cross the road and go through a gate with a ‘public bridleway’ sign, then along the left edge of a meadow.

Remember to prepare properly before heading out on any type of walk or outdoor activity. Tell people where you are going and what time you are expected back. As Wainwright says "There's no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing".
