Walk Details

From the car park on School Road, we turn right on to Dundas Street and then continue straight on to Monument Road. As the road goes towards the left, we take a right and join footpath, through the trees and towards the river.

Along this stretch of the walk we get a good view of the Deil’s Cauldron itself – where the river Lednock emerges from a rock-walled gorge in a double cascade into a wide pool.

After a while we take a footpath on the left and start our ascent up to the summit of Dun More to see the Melville Monument – an obelisk with amazing views out across the area.

When you’re ready – we head downwards and northwards until we find ourselves at Monument Road. We turn right and then left, crossing the river and then turning right to again follow the river for a while back towards Comrie.

The path will veer left, away from the river, passing a bench that offers the perfect opportunity to pause and admire the view out across the glen. When you’re ready – we continue on, through a gate and into an area of denser woodland plantation.

There are places along this trail that offer wonderful views of the Melville Monument, where we were earlier. The path veers down to the right and brings us back by the river once more. We follow along here until we reach a footbridge that takes us back across the river again and on to School Road where we started.
