Walk Details
This is a lovely circular walk that starts on the sea front at Alnmouth.
Being a circular walk, you can go whichever way around you wish – we’re going counter clockwise. Although we start the same way – heading southwards, with the sea to our left before heading up and on to the cliff top. This is where you can decide which way to go. We’re heading back northwards again.
We skirt around the edge of the Golf Course, heading inland towards the river where we pick up the path walking alongside. We cross over on the footbridge to the southside of the river and continue walking southwards until we reach the B1338. Here we turn left until we find ourselves back at the river bank once more.
Crossing over the bridge, we take a right and follow the river as it makes its way out towards open sea. We take a slight detour, up the main road of Alnmouth, Northumberland Street, perhaps stopping for some refreshments in one of the cafes or pubs, before heading back towards the sea front where we started.

Remember to prepare properly before heading out on any type of walk or outdoor activity. Tell people where you are going and what time you are expected back. As Wainwright says "There's no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing".
