Kirkby Lonsdale is the perfect base for walking whatever the season. From challenging hikes to gentle strolls there’s something for everyone. But like many areas near the Lake District, this one tends to be overlooked by walkers who have their sights set on higher things. However the area around Kirkby is certainly pretty and usually a little quieter, Turner and Ruskin painted the scenery often as it is so attractive.
