Here at The Outdoor Guide we’re firm believers that the great outdoors is for everyone. It’s one of the reasons why we came into being and why we started The Outdoor Guide Foundation – to help support more people getting outdoors. But we know we can’t do it alone.
We’ve been delighted to welcome Nikwax on board as a partner for our Waterproof & Wellies campaign. Through their support we have been able to provide more schools with sets of waterproof jackets, trousers and wellington boots, enabling more children to play outdoors no matter the weather.
Helping Children Get Outside
The Nikwax vision is “to enhance the enjoyment of the outdoors whilst protecting and preserving the natural environment; with sustainable treatments that extend the life of gear and elevate performance”. Through their generous donation we’ve been able to donate sets of waterproof and wellies to 10 schools across Kent – enhancing the enjoyment of the outdoors for children who perhaps wouldn’t have otherwise been able to. As Nikwax Head of Marketing & Communication, Zoe Hewitt explains, “we firmly believe that every child should have the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors no matter the weather, and The Outdoor Guide Foundation is helping to make this a reality”.
Tracey Crouch MP for Chatham and Aylesford and a long-time advocate for outdoor education and physical activity has also got on board with the campaign,
“I am thrilled to support the Waterproof & Wellies campaign, as it aligns perfectly with my commitment to promoting healthy and active lifestyles among children. Access to the outdoors is essential for their physical and mental wellbeing, and Nikwax’s generous support will make a real difference.”
Along with The Outdoor Guide Foundation Ambassador and Children’s TV Presenter, Gemma Hunt, 10 sets of Waterproof & Wellies were delivered to Luton Primary School in Chatham. Headteacher Karen Major was thrilled to receive them. “We feel that outdoor education is important for all of our 650 children. Thanks to the Outdoor Guide Foundation and Nikwax, our children will be able to use the forest school area even when it’s raining. Thank you for this amazing donation.”
