For the 20 miles of this route you will feel as if you are walking on water… Well almost.

Kennet & Avon
This easy terrain walk covers towpaths for 20 miles. Along this walk there is the Avoncliff Aqueduct and the grand finale at Caen Hill lock flight at Devizes.
The walk takes you from Bath to Devizes – virtually all of it alongside some of the most breathtakingly beautiful canals to be found anywhere as you stride down the Avon Valley.
Head south from Bath and you walk into a wonderland of canals, canal boats and canal people. Nowhere more so than in the village of Bathampton, which seems to live and breathe canals and has moorings crammed with boats and barges.
At Avoncliff Aqueduct the canal crosses the River Avon and provides views of the surrounding countryside that are little short of stunning.
Undoubtedly though, the best is saved for last as you reach the Caen Hill lock flight at Devizes. Here the canal is raised 235-feet and you can see close up on of the seven wonders of Britain’s waterways.
Julia’s verdict: Avon calling.
