A delightful, fairly level walk round this beautiful lake, the first part being suitable for those with limited mobility and pushchairs. It can be done in the reverse direction if preferred.

You can drive to Buttermere, parking in the National Park pay & display car park right of the Fish Hotel or the National Trust car park just north of the village, which is free to members.

You can also catch the Honister Rambler bus 77/77A from the road outside the house. Buses run Easter – October. It is a circular route going one way over Honister Pass & the other over Whinlatter Pass so you can choose to see various places in this lovely corner of the Lake District.

Please Note: All self-guided walks and cycle rides are undertaken entirely at guests’ own risk. Route directions are supplied in good faith; however HF Holidays or The Outdoor Guide cannot be held responsible for any errors contained within.

Remember to prepare properly before heading out on any type of walk or outdoor activity. Tell people where you are going and what time you are expected back. As Wainwright says "There's no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing".
