Walk Details
Swaledale is located in the north of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It has been described as one of the wildest and remotest of the dales, making it ideal for walking and enjoying peace and tranquillity. Reeth is known as the capital of Swaledale.
It is a very pretty village, with a village green and plenty of places to eat and drink.
It is possible to park your car on the village green in Reeth. There are accessible toilets (RADAR) on the north side of the green.
The walk starts at Black Bull Pub. There is a small alleyway between the Black Bull and Kings Arms Pub.

The alleyway soon becomes a tarmacked lane. Follow this round and then pick up signs for the Swing Bridge.
It is a lovely place to amble along and take time to look out for herons, oystercatchers and the greater spotted woodpecker.
Access TOG Verdict
The route alongside the river is rough ground and unsurfaced and reaches a gradient of 1:6.
For this walk we used the Terrainhopper, as the ground was a little bit too rough along the river bank for a manual wheelchair. A mobility scooter should be ok, but please check manufacturers advice for going over rough ground.
