Walk Overview
Following the route of the now disused Rosedale railway line, this walk offers a well-defined track that’s easy to follow. Being stile free, and a path made from compound aggregate, it’s suitable for wheelchair users and pushchairs.
The walk starts from a small parking area at Little Blakey and we follow the trail in a southerly direction.
Along the way you’ll see the remnants of a different time here with the former drift mine entrances which are fascinating to see. You’ll also be rewarded with wonderful views out across Rosedale and the North York Moors.
This is not a circular walk so you will either need to retrace your steps back to your car or consult your map on how to get to your next destination. There is another carpark at the end of this trail – if walking with a friend you could arrange to leave a car at either end!

Remember to prepare properly before heading out on any type of walk or outdoor activity. Tell people where you are going and what time you are expected back. As Wainwright says "There's no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing".
