Hello Toggers!

Enjoying family time
July means the start of the school summer holidays here in the UK. As a child I can remember the excitement of coming to the end of term and the prospect of a long break ahead. My children are much the same now with constant chatter about what they hope to get up to.
As a parent I know that the summer holidays can feel a little daunting as you try to plan plenty of activities to keep your little ones entertained whilst also trying to minimise screen time where possible. If this is you – please read on as we have some great ideas for family fun.
It was so refreshing to see walking make the headlines of many of the nations newspapers over the past week or so when the news broke that the Princess of Wales completed the Three Peaks Challenge. It’s an incredible feat of endurance for anyone to undertake and I very much applaud her achievement!
Beautiful Buttermere
One of my favourite holiday destinations here in the UK has to be the Lake District. The scenery is absolutely stunning and there are outdoor activities a plenty to suit all ages and abilities. Our walk this week is around Buttermere. This is a walk that has an adventurous feel – with rocks to scramble across, woodlands to wander through and a beautiful lake that’s perfect for skimming stones whilst surrounded by towering mountains.
Could This Help a School You Know?
If you know a teacher, headteacher, SENCO or school governor, this is an opportunity worth passing on. Mainstream schools across England are receiving new funding through the Inclusive Mainstream Fund, designed to help them strengthen inclusive practice and remove some of the barriers that can prevent children from learning, participating and thriving.
We’ve partnered with EduBounce, a whole-school movement programme that uses mini trampolines to bring structured movement and sensory support into the school day. Designed to support children with a wide range of needs, the programme aligns with five of the Department for Education’s seven inclusion themes.
Even better, schools that decide EduBounce is right for them and order using The Outdoor Guide referral code will receive a complimentary Waterproofs & Wellies Kit. That means ten children will also have the waterproof jackets, overtrousers and wellies they need to enjoy outdoor learning, whatever the weather.
Please share this with the teachers, school leaders, governors and education professionals in your life. A simple introduction could help more children experience the benefits of movement, inclusion and time outdoors.
Discover EduBounce and find out how your school could take part.
Four Things For You
Whether it’s a big challenge or a gentle stroll, the important thing is simply to keep walking, at your own pace and in your own way.
Wherever this summer takes you, remember to stay sun safe, drink plenty of water, and take time to pause and enjoy every second.
Happy walking!
